Dr. Jessica Burke, a faculty affiliate of the Center for Health Equity, received a three-year Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) U13 grant to conduct health disparities-related meetings, workshops, and symposia. The Academic-Community Partnerships to Address Maternal and Child Health in Allegheny County project, brings academic and community partners together to develop a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) agenda to address domestic violence and pregnancy health issues in Allegheny County. Project aims include the creation of an Interdisciplinary Advisory Board, utilizing concept mapping for stakeholder consensus on issues, and disseminating information on health disparities to community, regional, and state level advocates. The ultimate goal is the collection of evidence-based and informed content for future CBPR funding in this area.
