Since its origin in 1994, MSO has promoted the welfare and interests of underrepresented minority students of the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health.
Vision: MSO strives to provide its members with the necessary tools and resources to thrive as graduate students at the University of Pittsburgh, and to become marketable professionals upon graduation.
Mission: Identity is complex, a lived experience at the intersections of race, gender, class, sexuality and more. MSO values these experiences and hosts events that will bridge members to each other, to the Pitt Public Health community, various campus organizations, and the Pittsburgh community. Events include socials/mixers with graduate students, attending networking events in the community, and collaboration with other campus organizations aligned with the mission of MSO, and other academic and professional events.
MSO is an organization led by, and for underrepresented minority students. MSO also welcomes faculty and staff of Pitt Public Health.
